Embassy Spokesperson's Statement on the Anti-China Remarks by US Government Officials during the Three Seas Initiative Virtual Summit

On October 19, during the Three Seas Initiative Virtual Summit, certain US government officials made false statements about China, spread disinformation, grossly interfered in China's internal affairs, leveled wanton accusations against the Chinese Communist Party, smeared and slandered the Chinese government and Chinese companies, and deliberately instigated China-Estonia and China-EU relations. China strongly condemns and firmly opposes it.

Since the People's Republic of China was founded 71 years ago, it has achieved remarkable progress. China's contribution to the world peace and development is witnessed by all. China unswervingly follows the path of peaceful development, and has always adhered to developing friendly relations of cooperation with countries all over the world under the principles of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit and win-win results. The malicious accusation of the US against China is unreasonable and pointless.

The US has spared no effort to create the so-called "Clean Network". Its real purpose is not to safeguard cyber security and privacy, but to consolidate its own digital hegemony. The so-called "Clean Network" is in fact an unpopular "dirty network" that is discriminatory, exclusive and politicized in nature. The US, in the absence of evidence, uses its state power to suppress Chinese companies, publicly force other countries to choose sides on the 5G issue. It undermines the international unity and cooperation. This is a real act of bullying and coercion which is a shame.

We urge the US to abandon the Cold War mentality, stop spreading political virus, contribute more to friendship and cooperation between countries instead of creating divisions and bullying. Otherwise, the consequences will only boomerang on itself. China will always adhere to the global governance featuring extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefit, stick to the opening up strategy and realize the vision of common development with countries all over the world.
